This great rig improves the hook up rate and lowers the amount of deep hooked captures by using either a length of Braid or Mono underneath a circle hook that is looped to the trace to give free hook movement and maximum hooking potential.
I have used them on the Bristol Channel and found that the conger eels were lip hooked whilst the thornback rays were hooked in the side of their mouths and no deep hooking.
